"Do not be anxious for anything, but in EVERYTHING, by prayer and petitions, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.'"
I am convinced from Scripture that God wants to hear from us. He wants to hear our desires, our feelings, our needs, our worship and adoration, and our praise. I think He wants to hear from us in whatever mood we are in. However, it is important to note that in the above Scripture, Paul teaches that we should present our petitions with praise.
I have been busy presenting requests to God lately, and not focusing so much on giving thanks to Him for His goodness. I have begun to feel convicted. I know that He wants to be a part of my life both in the good times and bad, so I am going to focus on giving Him specific praise along with the specific requests that already seem so easy to present to Him
Giving thanks for:
- the (short-lived) return of warm weather
- a new winter coat which should be arriving in the mail soon
- I found a church!
- friends - old and new
- straight-up piano music (nothing else added in there!)
- a lovely weekend
- a little extra sleep
- two major projects finished (yes!!)
- starting Doctrine and Practice of Prayer class - I know that God wants to use this class to challenge me and those around me
- the love and prayers of my amazing parents
- happy memories
- modern medicine
- my wonderful family
I am so grateful for the many blessings God has given me!
Thanks for the "praise" reminder! Hope you get your package today. I took a bottle of Tylenol out of the bag to mark it "from Grandma" and forgot to put it back in! Duh... Hope you are feeling better! Love, Aunt Sherry
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the reminder too. I need to remember to praise with my requests to God.
